i think that this weekend i am going to try to get some rough sketches done of my photos. they might not be exactly the final ones but as mr z said, you can't know if you like you idea or not until you start taking pictures!
i think i will...
1) have my mom be in denial and try to emphasize and show the little crows feet around her eyes with dramatic lighting.
2)have my brother look really shocked and show his freckles a lot.
3)i want to have a female teenager look like they are in a lot of pain, balled up on the floor physicalls hurting. i think i will do this one in a bathroom. this could represent where these people reflect on themselves.
i think that is what i will accomplish this weekend.

okay so as i was looking over my ideas i found that a lot of them were really just me wanting to use different techniques to create pictures but that there wasn't much meaning behind them. i want my concentration to show a story or narrative but each photo to be able to stand on it's own as well. i thought that the "7 stages of grief" could provide for these conditions. i like to use kind of darker imagery in my photos so this theme fits well and i think that each stage will provide with a wide spectrum of ways that it can be portrayed. here are the stages:
1) shock and denial
- this one can be a portrait capturing peoples' really shocked facial expressions and pain
-can have one of shock and one of denial
-this can also double as my other idea of showing the details of people's faces like with the freckles, etc.
2) pain and guilt
-can do one of pain and one of guilt
-this can be a really intense emotional one where a person is physically hurting from the emotional pain
-show a person doubled over in a private place and crying
-dramatic lighting
3) anger and bargaining
- really dramatic, throwing a chair into a pool and capturing the water splashing up
-cracking mirrors and showing muscles bulging and only parts of the face such as the veins in the forehead or the eyes
4) "depression", reflection and lonliness
-show the person in a public place surrounded by people but still feeling disconnected and distant, not enjoying life
-they could be at a water park, beach or town center
-staring though everyone like they don't see them, too deep in their thoughts
-becoming distant from friends
5) the upward turn
-being calm and looking serene and just being neutral
6) reconstruction and working though
-trying really hard to go on with the normal daily routines
-reconnecting with friends
7) acceptance and hope
-seeing the silver lining in each new day
-being genuinlly happy even though there is a missing presence in their life (such as the person they have lost)
the same person does not have to be in all of these photos
i would like to use different people because i want it to represent the stages themselves, not that specific persons' grief journey.

so these are just something i was messing around with. it was one of my concentration ideas, the one where i draw attention to things that people don't normally see when they first look at a person. this for instance shows the freckles. ive always wanted to do some pictures like this. however, i think with more experimenting with lighting i could take some better ones.

okay so for my tshirt idea i saw this somewhere and i thought it was cute but i don't know if it would be "appropriate" and we would have to work to make it pretty original as well. but the front of it would say "what the F/ stop?!" and the back would say ESJ Photography 2013. to make it more original, we could have the letters each be a picture making some sort of a collage/ scrapbook look.
