so i recently saw this on the internet and really liked it.
i've been on kind of a cooking streak lately where i am just cooking up a storm every chance i get.
looking at this photo of something as simple as the breakfast table brought up a lot of pleasant feelings. i like how the colors are a little faded, it almost looks like film. i like how there aren't any people in this photo but it still looks occupied by a presence. obviously you can see that people have been here and left the remnants of what looked like a really fun meal with the family. i think what just really gets me about this photo is that it represents what food and mealtime is supposed to mean in society: the family gathering around together and enjoying a fresh, home-cooked, delicious meal and this photo captures that without even having people in it. i also like how all of the elements in this photo are spaced out. it gives a sort of off-centered, disheveled look. i think it would be really cool to do this with film, but maybe color film since i would be shooting food. i don't want the black and white to make the food look unappetizing. i'll have to think about different ways to portray all of these feelings without having people in the photo but also without coming from this angle each time.
